What is the difference between a silicone and a plastic case?

A silicone case is soft and flexible, and it absorbs impact well. It grips in the hand, but it collects dust and yellows over time. A hard plastic (PC) case is thin and easy to keep clean, but it does not give under impact. For most people a TPU or hybrid case is the better compromise — it combines both.

How do I choose the right case?

Choose for the way you actually use the phone: if you drop it often, take a rugged case; if you want to keep the phone slim, TPU or silicone is enough; if you want to carry cards, pick a wallet case. Above all, check that the case is made for your exact phone model.

Does a case protect against drops?

Yes, though how much depends on the type. A thin silicone case keeps scratches away and helps with low falls. Rugged cases such as UAG or Spigen Tough Armor are drop-tested from 2–3 metres and give the most protection.

Why does a clear silicone case turn yellow?

UV light and the natural oils on your skin cause it. It is normal and cannot be prevented entirely. Tip: a darker colour or a clear TPU case yellows far less visibly.

iPhone 14 Pro Max

Description

X-Doria Raptic Slim is a thin black protective case made specifically for iPhone 14 Pro Max. Its low-profile TPU construction is pocket-friendly, while textured sides and thickened impact areas improve grip and everyday protection.

The manufacturer describes the case as tested for drops of up to 6 ft (about 1.8 m) under its military-grade programme. Test conditions do not guarantee that a phone will remain undamaged in every fall.
Covered buttons and enlarged openings keep the controls, camera, speakers and charging port accessible.
The TPU frame contains EcoElement material and is described by the manufacturer as recyclable and biodegradable. Actual biodegradation and recycling depend on local facilities and disposal conditions.
The packaging is described as biodegradable. Do not place the case or packaging in home compost unless local instructions explicitly allow it.
The case is slim, but raised and reinforced areas still add some size to the bare phone.

The package contains one X-Doria Raptic Slim case. The phone and other pictured items are not included.
