Description
Find the cable you need to work on
Uni-T UT682 brings cable-pair tracing and testing into a portable transmitter-and-receiver set. It is intended for work with suitable network, telephone and electrical cables, helping you identify the connection you are dealing with. That is useful when servicing an installation instead of relying only on labels or guesswork.
Check the connection before deciding what to change
Continuity and short-circuit checks add useful information alongside tracing, while the telephone-pair polarity indication supports suitable telephone-line work. These functions help you narrow down the cable condition before deciding on the next step. Select appropriate circuits, modes and connections as described in the device instructions.

Visible and audible indications
Light and sound indications give you two ways to follow what the tester is reporting. You can use them while working through cable identification rather than depend only on a visual check of the wiring. The combination is practical when your attention moves between the cable, transmitter and receiver.

Separate units, practical to carry
The compact transmitter and receiver each use battery power, so the set can move with you between work spots. A low-battery indicator helps you notice when power needs attention before another testing session.
The leads and case come with the set
The included accessories cover RJ11 and RJ45 connections, together with an RJ11 lead with crocodile clips. Batteries and a case are also supplied. You can keep the equipment together for transport and choose the appropriate connection for the task, rather than assemble the kit from separate purchases.
