What is the difference between a silicone and a plastic case?

A silicone case is soft and flexible, and it absorbs impact well. It grips in the hand, but it collects dust and yellows over time. A hard plastic (PC) case is thin and easy to keep clean, but it does not give under impact. For most people a TPU or hybrid case is the better compromise — it combines both.

How do I choose the right case?

Choose for the way you actually use the phone: if you drop it often, take a rugged case; if you want to keep the phone slim, TPU or silicone is enough; if you want to carry cards, pick a wallet case. Above all, check that the case is made for your exact phone model.

Does a case protect against drops?

Yes, though how much depends on the type. A thin silicone case keeps scratches away and helps with low falls. Rugged cases such as UAG or Spigen Tough Armor are drop-tested from 2–3 metres and give the most protection.

Why does a clear silicone case turn yellow?

UV light and the natural oils on your skin cause it. It is normal and cannot be prevented entirely. Tip: a darker colour or a clear TPU case yellows far less visibly.

Speck Presidio Perfect-Clear + Ombre is a Clear / Vintage Rose Fade protective case made for iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 14 Plus. The manufacturer's code for this variant is 150122-9509. The transparent back changes gradually into the Clear / Vintage Rose Fade ombre tone while leaving much of the phone visible. Its IMPACTIUM Shock Barrier cushioning structure compresses or deforms during an impact to help absorb and spread the force.

Speck states that the case was drop-tested from up to 13 ft (about 4 m); this laboratory rating does not mean that a phone will avoid damage in every fall.
Raised edges around the screen and camera help limit direct contact with flat surfaces and provide additional protection for the exposed glass and lenses.
Built-in Microban antimicrobial treatment is intended to reduce bacterial growth on the case surface by up to 99%; it does not clean the case or protect the user from microorganisms.
Perfect-Clear materials are intended to resist UV discoloration and slow yellowing. Transparent plastics can still change over time depending on use, heat, sunlight and cleaning products.
This version has no integrated MagSafe magnets. It supports Qi wireless charging, and a compatible MagSafe charger can supply power as a Qi charger, but magnetic attachment and automatic alignment are not built into the case. Actual charging behaviour depends on the phone and equipment.
