What is the difference between a silicone and a plastic case?

A silicone case is soft and flexible, and it absorbs impact well. It grips in the hand, but it collects dust and yellows over time. A hard plastic (PC) case is thin and easy to keep clean, but it does not give under impact. For most people a TPU or hybrid case is the better compromise — it combines both.

How do I choose the right case?

Choose for the way you actually use the phone: if you drop it often, take a rugged case; if you want to keep the phone slim, TPU or silicone is enough; if you want to carry cards, pick a wallet case. Above all, check that the case is made for your exact phone model.

Does a case protect against drops?

Yes, though how much depends on the type. A thin silicone case keeps scratches away and helps with low falls. Rugged cases such as UAG or Spigen Tough Armor are drop-tested from 2–3 metres and give the most protection.

Why does a clear silicone case turn yellow?

UV light and the natural oils on your skin cause it. It is normal and cannot be prevented entirely. Tip: a darker colour or a clear TPU case yellows far less visibly.

Description

Speck Presidio Perfect-Clear is a transparent case shaped specifically for iPhone 17e / 16e / 15 / 14 / 13. Its clear dual-layer perimeter combines hard polycarbonate, which disperses impact, with soft TPU, which compresses to absorb it. The manufacturer states that 50% of the plastics are recycled material.

The Perfect-Clear coating is designed to resist discoloration, scratching and visible yellowing. Wear, UV exposure and cleaning can still affect the appearance over time.
According to Speck, the case has been real-world drop-tested from up to 13 ft (about 4 m). A raised 360-degree screen bezel and raised camera ring help reduce contact with flat surfaces, but the rating is not a guarantee against phone damage.
A built-in antimicrobial treatment reduces bacterial growth on the case surface. It protects the product surface only and does not protect the user or other items against disease-causing microorganisms.
The case supports standard Qi wireless charging. This exact non-MagSafe version has no built-in MagSafe magnetic ring, so charging performance and magnetic hold depend on the phone, charging equipment, positioning and power source.

The package contains one clear Speck Presidio Perfect-Clear case. The iPhone, charging equipment and other accessories are not included.
