The VAT bottle produces a stated MMAD of about 2.19 μm when tested with a Cascade Impactor and a Dv(50) of 3.221 μm with Malvern Spraytec. The supplier also lists MMAD no greater than 2.2 μm and a fine-particle dose (FPD) of 80–85%.

The adjustable valve changes the nebulization rate from 0.15–0.40 ml/min without exchanging parts. The supplier describes higher flow for more viscous medication and users with greater breathing capacity, and lower flow for children or infants.

A piston compressor powers the system. The housing has a built-in accessory compartment, and mouthpiece and adult and child masks are included.
