What is the difference between a silicone and a plastic case?

A silicone case is soft and flexible, and it absorbs impact well. It grips in the hand, but it collects dust and yellows over time. A hard plastic (PC) case is thin and easy to keep clean, but it does not give under impact. For most people a TPU or hybrid case is the better compromise — it combines both.

How do I choose the right case?

Choose for the way you actually use the phone: if you drop it often, take a rugged case; if you want to keep the phone slim, TPU or silicone is enough; if you want to carry cards, pick a wallet case. Above all, check that the case is made for your exact phone model.

Does a case protect against drops?

Why does a clear silicone case turn yellow?

Case-Mate Karat Touch of Pearl is a clear case decorated with genuine mother-of-pearl elements made specifically for Samsung Galaxy S24. The pearlescent pieces are sealed into the decorative design; the statement concerns those elements and does not mean that the entire shell is made from mother-of-pearl.

Case-Mate states that the case was tested for drops up to 12 ft (about 3.7 m). This is a controlled-test result, not a guarantee against every fall or all damage; the raised rim only helps reduce direct contact with the screen and camera area.
The case is made with recycled materials and has anti-scratch and antimicrobial coatings. The antimicrobial treatment acts only on the treated case surface; it does not protect the phone, hands or user and does not replace cleaning.
The case is compatible with standard wireless charging. Charging speed and alignment depend on the phone and charger. UV-resistant clear material is intended to slow yellowing, while natural mother-of-pearl elements can vary slightly in tone and pattern.
